Water - Movement

Why is water movement in an aquarium so important………..
There are so many ways that an aquarium will benefit from some form of movement in the water, even the humble Goldfish bowl………..whether it is by the use of a wave maker, power head or a strong circulation pump, a simple air stone or a venture, this dispersal of oxygen is vital to the health and wellbeing of your aquarium inhabitants………..
Most fish come from either rivers, lakes, estuaries or ofcourse the sea and in all of these locations there is some sort of ‘flow’ or current………fish need strong muscles to function so if you can create a man made flow or current depending on species, they are in fact getting a natural work out in the ‘gym’. Some species are just happy to hover in the flow, such as Glass or Ghost Catfish, and ofcourse a lot of the Cichlid and Marine species. Recreating a natural environment means happy, healthy, long lived fish……….

Maxijet Powerhead

Want a really reliable and hard working power head…..then this is the one for you.
Having used these Power Heads for several years in all of our systems Coldwater, Tropical and Marine, we have always been able to provide our fish with either a gentle flow or a really ‘tidal’ blast………
Versatile and easy to maintain these power heads are a true ‘gem’ to use…….

They have loads of handy features that are easy to fit and give you the true versatility of a quality Power Head……..

1/ A fully rotational output….meaning that you can direct the flow of your power head to any where in the aquarium that either suits you or your fish/corals, acts to diffuse the water with it’s flat rotational head…….

2/ It sports a fully sealed impeller chamber, which cuts down or even excludes any debris problems……..

3/ An intake tube adaptor with a pre filter screen……ideal for using on an undergravel filter system on top of an uplift tube instead of an airstone……

4/ An adjustable hook with cable guide, to make sure your power head really stays where you want it to…….

5/ An air filter (venturi) that comes with a silencer and flow adjustment……

6/ A sturdy triple suction cup mount to make sure that your power head stays in the place that you want it…….

7/ A really handy grid support, this can also be housed in a foam sleeve……..ideal for small fry tanks, they will also provide a small biological filtration unit, (lower power only) or for Marine aquariums that house invertebrates that may be damaged by suction into a power head………..SEE FOAM SLEEVES bottom of page…….

Natural  WAVE -  WAVE MAKER

4 Way Wave Maker

Natural Wave is a multi-cycle aquarium pump timer, suitable for the creation of water flowing from several directions. It has three timed outlets and one standard outlet for connection to other electrical appliances. Natural Wave avoids stagnant areas forming, where waste may accumulate and cause pollution of the water. Suspended sediment is more readily removed by the filtering system. The water flow and alternate cycles help prevent invertebrates being covered by excess mucus, and facilitate the capture of suspended food. Natural Wave stimulates the development of live corals and of all sessile organisms. Timing patterns from 20 seconds to three minutes.
